Decaying Form - Chronicles Of Decimation

first off those who are into corpse carving, you know how tom is skilled to this kinda music.he have shown that through corpse carving, cranial devourment.and yeah this new band demonstrates that again. decaying form the bands name said what they want to do.this is no forms to decaying forms music,i think. but theres just the hell of ultra brutality youve not heard ever. the band is done by tom and linton. tom plays guitar and vocals and lintons plays drum.

the guitar riffs tom makes are so complicated and improvised.he is so skilled and great taste to this kinda music.and riffs are so varied and have many tempo changes.i must say riffs are also so techy and chaotic.its really experimental sound.some riffs remind me of corpse carving but tom make them to more complicated and evolved ones to new styled ones.i heard of one song of his other project cranial devourment(rip) .i feel same music taste between cranial devourment and decaying form. i guess this band continues the way he wanted to do in cranial devourment. each riffs are short but tom create unique and complicated riffs which are awesome. toms vocals are mix of low gutturals and squeas.his vocals are so powerful as well as corpse carving.this improvised-like sound meets those brutal vocals create new harmony ive not heard ever and that works as well.

linton has some varied drumming parts that they are so unique and techy too.his drumming for this band is diverse and is not like others do. the band need his drumming to create total experienced sound of decaying form.

first off,i was surprised by their sound and dont know what i need to say at first haha.but decaying form is showing new brutality other bands didnt archieve and i guess thats toms intension.if you are looking for new formed bands ,you must check out decaying form.this band inherits toms disbanded project cranial devourments essences and create new improvised brutal sound thats great job.you must check it out soon.

Defleshuary - Mutilated and Skinned Alive

This new act is from Pennsylvania which produced such bands as inhuman dissiliency and embludgeoned. This band should be added to one of remarkable bands from there with those bands I mentioned above.

The band has been around for two or three years, and I guess when I saw the band logo first, I thought its cool as its one designed by one line and not like recent bands that have gory and complicated logos done by pc.

Music wise, the band has nice grooves and a grinding sound and so they remind me of beatdown styled bands, so they have plenty of danceable parts too. Actually, there's tons of that kind of band there. I think they pick up some essences from them and get them into their sound in a better way. They also have the occasional breakdowns which remind me of devourment. The guitar sound sometimes reminds me of mortician's middle parts so actually I talked to Rick, one of the bands members, and he said their influences include devourment and mortician. The vocals are low gutturals and squeals but they don't overdo the gutturals as other bands do. For me the vocals fit the bands sound well and they don't emphasize vocals and keep the bands harmony with vocals and all instruments going together as well. This demo contains 6 songs and I think whole songs are a just better length as I've heard whole tracks many times from first song to last song and totally the band really play a low sound with grooves and grinding. I must say the band is not your typical slam oriented band but they have their own color that's different from other bands. You'll understand what I mean, if you listen to their songs.

This band will play at California death fest so till then, first off check this stuff out, preparing for that fest.

Devital - Promo 2004

Ok, this will probably be my shortest review ever, but Seiji insisted that I should review this one track with Devital and thats all they have released on this promo that came out in 2004. You can go and download it at Amputated Veins website (www.amputatedvein.com) and get your own oppinion about it. This feels pretty pointless since its just one darn song and you cant get a fair view or even give a complete oppinion about a band after just hearing one song so this is the last time I'm doing anything like that, I'm sorry Seiji, but reviewing one track is so utterly pointless.. oh well, I'll give it a shot.

Devital is a fairly new band from Japan consisting of three guys that I know very little about since they dont seem to have any website whatsoever, what do have though is an e-mail that I tried to write to about a year ago, but I never got any reply. Haven't you noticed that when you hear that there is a new band coming out of Japan you can almost by the instance guess what they will sound like, this band is no exception either since the japanese scene may be rather small, but they have in a short time established a specific "trademark" of some sort when it comes to delivering quality death metal.

What makes Devital a bit different than their other japanese brothers is that they are going for a more faster approach with some semi-technical riffing that reminds you a less technical Disgorge (USA), but yet again, they got that special japanese "trademark" that gives them a sound of their own. They are all good at what they are doing and that the vocalist is playing bass while doing the vocals is pretty hard to belive since they are probably one of the most guttural and retched vocals ever coming out of Japan, pretty similar to Matti Way actually, but this is not some guy trying to copy the style straight of.

What worries me though after hearing this track is that the vocalarrangements are rather unintelligent and they feel kinda random, they just appear all of a sudden when you pretty much least expect them to and there are not alot of vocals at all in this song actually. Its a pity on such good vocals. They should be used more often because now it just sounds like as if they were just used like a "fill in" for some parts, but then again, its ONE song so I cant really say that much.

Wow, this review did turn out pretty long after all, I fucking knew it man. Oh well, if you are into brutal death metal in the japanese vein in the vein of Woundeep, then you should check out these guys, its from Japan, you know you will dig it (because everyone else does hehe).

Devourment - Butcher the Weak

Links:
Band Website
This is the album we've all been waiting a good part of a decade for. The most important name in their own self-created new genre. Without even trying to do so, might I add. That being the new level of sick! Sickest everything. From lyrical concepts, to vocal performance, riffs, and drumming. Not to mention, the sickest fans. With this in mind, you know they didn't want to let their fans down with this second follow-up full-length. I myself (as many can relate) can never forget the feeling when I first heard Devourment. Sitting alone on my couch in the afternoon with the hugest retarded smile on my face. Constant hysterical laughing followed every sick part of every song. Total musical gratification and appreciation for what was heard. I thought at that moment-Finally! A band that understands what music needs! The upmost extreme sounds to put your energy to. I've always wanted that feeling when I heard some more from them. Boy do I get that feeling with Butcher The Weak!

For one, you get some great creative sick humor with these song titles and lyrics. Track listing is: 1.Butcher The Weak 2.Masturbating At The Slab 3.Serial Cocksucker 4.Tomb Of Scabs 5.Autoerotic Asphyxiation 6.Anal Electrocution 7.Fuck Her Head Off 8.Babykiller. The lyrics are even sicker and more depraved than before! Mike's vocal performance may be criticized as "not as brutal" by some, but You can tell he gave it his all. I think he's fucking great! Each Devourment vocalist has they're own signature. I don't see how his vocals can disapoint anyone honestly. They come across very powerful. I can say that there could be more nasals, but his growls fit so nicely you shouldn't care. Mike Majewski is such a huge part of mostly all of their concepts and imagery that it is so natural to hear him do these vocals.

Their vocalist on their first full-length Ruben Rosas is now their sole guitar player on Butcher The Weak. These riffs on this album are fucking awesome! These grooves will stay in your head to further motivate you to go nuts in random situations. Ruben is the man who right when he came back, made it top priority to keep Devourment going. He sure is with his guitar playing! These riffs displayed throughout the entire album are total Devourment style kicked up one sick notch further.

To complete the new line-up, is the unbelievable drumming of Eric Park. That's right. One-handed rolls baby. Fucking manditory in this level of music. I'm so glad they got someone who does it. And he's creative with his snare rolls too. Not the same counts you're so familiar with in Devourment. Other than the cool snare shit everyone knows them for, Eric does a killer job all over the kit. You can tell he likes to play, when you hear his cymbol work. His performance on this album shows Devourment fans that he has more to add to the solid style of the band. He keeps it true, but like the riffs and the whole effect of the album, brings it up another level.

Diftery - Corrupting the Evolution

Links:

i received this material from a member of the Slovakian guttural slamming band morbidium who has a member that's in this band diftery, so first off i was excited to hear what kind of sound diftery had and as you could guess they sound pretty damn cool with a style like california's disgorge.

they play technical parts like disgorge but there not just copycat riffs, in my opinion, disgorge always played low key riffs and diftery also plays these riffs but they also use high key riffs as well and they switch between the two pretty well. the vocals are high and low gutturals with occasional squeals, growls and etc. and the vocal patterns are constantly changing in various combinations which is cool

disgorge is definitely the main influence for this band but they are not a rip off of disgorge in any way, they evolve disgorges elements into their own sound to make diftery. remember that name cause this band will be getting big for sure in the future and i hope slovakias scene will produce more bands like diftery and morbidium.

Disconformity - Depravation of stigma

Links:
Band Website
I bet not many of you are unfamiliar to this band by now since I've read and noticed that this band has received nothing but good reponse, oh well, some shit from people saying that they ripped of Devourment, well.. Disconformity may have riffs that are similar to Devourment's, but lets face it.. Disconformity is a way better and more complex band than Devourment ever has been if you ask me and thats my oppinion so there is no need to get pissed off and start whining at me in the guestbook, ok?

Now that we got that settled lets start with the review. Disconformity really has changed alot too, first of all, they too got a really professional cover and print, but also a really nice cd-sleeve for the cd. They are one guitar short on this cd (they got a new one now though), but I can promise that you wont really notice that hehe. At first I was a bit worried that Disconformity would release yet another cd full of grooves and slams. Dont take me wrong, I absolutely loved their previous demo, but it would've been boring if they did the same thing again. Luckily these guys seem to have thought about that already because this sounds pretty far off from what Disconformity did on their first demo.

The first track "Depravation of stigma" starts off sounding really fast, try alot faster than the stuff you heard on their first demo, then you get attacked by the vocals again, still wet and guttural, but maybe more powerfull now and deeper, but most importantly, more intense. Now dont worry that Disconformity has gone to being a straight forward, no-stop- until-I-break-off-my-wrists grindband, nope, you will still be able to hear those really heavy and brutal grooves that you heard from their first demo, but I personally think that they are more complex now and more diverse and not just "chug-chug".

There are some small small setbacks though: The drums are a bit low in the mix, especially the snare and the kicks, not that it's making the tracks sound like crap, but it sounds a little bit sloopy maybe. The other thing is that with a new release I expected alot more from Disconformity than just one new song and a re-recorded version of Atonic Epilepsy, that kinda disappointed me in a way since I expected hearing at least three new tracks. On the other hand, as a bonus, you get the three tracks from their previous demo "Penetrated unseen supression" if you by any chance missed out on that one.

I dont got any idea if they are signed yet, but I really really REALLY hope that they get signed pretty soon because you cant as a label miss out on this band, they are definantly one of the better bands out there when it comes to brutal music.

Disconformity - Penetrated unseen supression

Band Website
Probably the most anticipated demo in the history of death metal, well, thats what I think and this is probably one of the best demos ever released as well. Picture an alliance between a much better and upgraded Devourment and Vomit Remnants and you can pretty much understand what I'm talking about. Suprisingly good production as well, dont want to sound like a judgemental person, but I havent heard many bands from Japan that has released anything with a production as good as this, well, maybe something like Vomit Remnants, but with a different sound of their own.

Well, Disconformity has been around since November 2002 and this is from what I know, their debut release and this will definantly make some great impact on the underground scene. In Disconformity we can find members from Vagotomy/Glossectomy, FastKill, Yu-Ki and Exacerbate, kinda unknown to me, so I dont really know what kind of musical background these guys have.

Musically these guys are good at what they are doing and they write some interesting songs at will, actually some of the riffs are pretty original and sounds like nothing I've ever heard before, its kinda like semi-technical stuff meets sick breakdowns and ultra heavy groovy stuff. Ah, the vocals, one of the most important things when it comes to this kind of music and Koh has some of the most guttural ones I've heard in a long time, but he is more diverse than the regular "eeeerr errrrr" or "ouuu ouuuu"-shit that many bands does these days, you can actually hear that he is singing something hehe.

I actually think if these guys play their cards right they will crush all resistance and become one of the best underground death/grind bands around, at least they are the best brutal band coming out of Japan, well currently that is, you can never know what Japan has in store for us next time hehe.

You are either ignorant or dumb if you dont check out this band and order their demo, because you will definantly love this, its so insane and down to earth. (not meaning that its a boring standard band) Still reading this? Well, surf to their page, download the sample and the video and then order their demo. Lovers of brutal music, this is a must-have demo.

Disfiguring the Goddess - Demo

Myspace Website
recently las vegas is hot as fuck.the scene is growing obviously and tons of cool bands have come out of there.one of them is implements of hell which plays cool guttural slamming stuff.now las vegas scene has too much young energy and power.so this new band difiguring the goddess is based out of there and one of cooler bands from there such as implements of hell.

first off the vocals are so impact on me.this is kinda ultra low guttrals and gurgles style remind me of drippings sewer vocals.and they use occasional squeals but mostly lows. and the band really has nice grooves.slam parts are diverse and not monotonous,if you ask me.they have an original slam style riffs thats all what i can say haha.and yeah they have cool beatdowns too.dripping style lows and beatdowns make horrible sound and make me so stunned haha.if you are fan of las vegas death metal just like implements of hell, you should check disfiguring the goddess out soon.those guys play kinda pretty new and modern stuff but they dont lose ultra sickness of brutal death.
