Carnivore Diprosopus - Madhouse's Macabre Acts

Links:
Myspace Website
i'm so glad i get to introduce this album to everyone this is some sick ass slamming stuff and you will all love it if you dig devourmnent and some similar style bands. carnivore diprosopus return to the scene with there new album "Madhouse's macabre acts" and with this release they really broke the prejudice that colombia is mainly ultra fast and brutal death bands like internal suffering. they show that colombia can also produce slam styled bands as well that most fans from the u.s or japan will find appealing.

you can hear a lot of other bands essences and riffs and etc all combined into one style so there's lots of parts that will remind you of devourment, vomit remnants, dying fetus, internal bleeding, dehumanized, skinless and etc. and oscar the vocalist spews low and deep gutturals that add a more sick and cool taste to the sound and his vocals really fit with the slam and breakdown parts.

the guitar riffs are always slow as fuck as well as the breakdowns so the songs mainly consist of slam parts and as for the drums there the tipped-over tin can sound that most colombian and indonesian bands use.

dan's crypt is really lucky to have released this cause this album really owns man if you really dig devourment and the other bands mentioned above then carnivore diprosopus is going to be your new favorite band.

Cephalotripsy - Demo

Links:
Myspace Website
cephalotripsy is a slamming ultra guttural band with txdm infuences that consists of angel and forrest from condemned (if you don't know condemned check out the review and interview we did with them) and along with condemned this new band for these guys should definitely be lumped in the category of californias most extreme bands along with the more well known bands from cali.

angel has some pretty low gutturals that remind me of matti way of ex-disgorge and also ruben from devourment. it's obvious both vocalists influence him in some ways and nick the guitarist creates tons of cool slam parts and breakdowns like most txdm bands like devourment and sect of execration, he plays not only slow riffs but also technical riffs that remind me of disgorge especially during the fast and blasting parts.

forrest the drummer is a very good drummer and his playing style is very tight, he blasts with no problem and his double bass sounds heavy as fuck.

so to sum it all up this band is worth checking out for all you freaks of slam oriented bands especially lovers of txdm styled stuff.

Cephalotripsy - Uterovaginal Insertion of Extirpated Anomalies

Links:
Myspace Website
japanese label amputated vein released this monster of an album and for me this is been a long awaited one and not only for me but for a lot of people in general. cephalotripsy includes some members from condemned that play disgorge type cali death metal plus slams style, the band started one year ago and is still a pretty new band but the bands name has spread around due to their music being so intense and powerful.

for starters the first song starts with a devourment style breakdown so i was stunned, they use so many devourment styled breakdowns and slams but they are not straight copycat riffs. when i heard their songs for the first time i imagined devourment but at the same time i noticed nick the guitarist arranged and evolved devourments riffs to create their own.

angel the vocalist uses ultra low and deep gutturals and to me is one of the lowest and deepest vocalists in the world and i know his main vocal influences are devourments ruben and ex-vocalist wayne. besides gutturals he uses some occasional squeals and his squeals are also deep and if you ask me his vocals will blow your mind for sure.

as for the drum sound i can say it's very tight, the double bass and blasts are accurate and there's drum rolls akin to devourment so the drum sounds are rhythmical and fit the slam parts well. there's a lot of snare in the mix as well sounding like the tired and true tipped over tin can sound which i love so all in all the drumming works great compared with everything else.

to sum it all up these guys are creating CADM's new slam oriented style with influences from TXDM and they demonstrate that cali is the new place to go for slamming bands. don't miss this cd and support cali's scene!!

Choking on Bile - Demos

Myspace Website
This dude don't give a fuck! That's the first thing that comes to mind when absorbing this one man's beating. You know what to expect here, when you hear "Choking On Bile's name. The intentions here are only to brutalize. Before you go criticizing him for using a Devourment song for the band name, take a look at pretty much every Repulsion song. Plenty of bands come from song names. Once you hear these songs you won't be let down. Choking On Bile isn't a "Devourment rip off". Don't you hate it when people say that anyway? That's like calling Devourment a Repudilation rip off. The original material on these demos stand up on their own aside from the Devourment cover. That's right, there IS a Devourment cover and it rules!

Choking On Bile hails from France. We all know plenty of sickness comes from France. There's something about the deathgrinding vocals from there. They know how to do it right! His growls just get that real bellowing sound from the gut. They range from the low to the extreme pig sound gutturals, so all are sure to be satisfied in the vocal department. The drum machine sounds amazing. Anybody trying to get that perfect drum machine set up is sure to be set off in a jealous rage after hearing this shit.

The riffs are played in every pace there is with a good mix of time switches for the breakdowns and blast parts. Nice little grooves going on throughout. The tracks are simply titled: 1.Growls 2.Grunts 3.Screams, and number four is a nice little cover of everyone's favorite drunk-stomp song-Babykiller. This cover tune has a real drummer, which does a fantastic job. He even adds nice little rim shots in a couple snare rolls. The double bass are some of the fastest I've ever heard and are unbelievable to be real, but sound great! Sounds trigged but who really gives a shit. Anyone who likes Devourment should like this band. This is probably the intent.

Condemned - Mass burial

Links:
Myspace Website
Well, how should I begin this...I just got done listening to the Mass Burial Demo 2005 by up and cumers CONDEMNED.They are a very promising band. They have very technical riffs with tight drumming and very strong guttural vocals. All the members of the band look to be quite young, too. This is a good thing seeing that a lot of newer bands sound like everything else. These guys were truely like a breath of fresh air. They have that good California death metal sound with hints of influences from bands like SUFFOCATION and DECREPIT BIRTH.The thing that I really liked about these guys,is that they throw in a few more breakdowns then the normal technical death metal bands. Each song on this demo stands out in a way by mixing different styles at certin parts. It's very good to see bands cumming up that have a original sound ,but stay true to the bands that influenced them.To be in a state (CA) just like my self being in ARTERY ERUPTION,and not falling weak to all the emo-hardcore shit is a big thing especially when you're able to pull off what these guys have in this three song masterpiece.Keep your eyes and ears open for this very promising up-and-cumming brutal/technical death band.Oh yea I almost forgot,if you like these guys check them out they are playing with us in June at the Central Valley Death Fest

Corpulate - Demo

Links:
Myspace Website
ohio has one of the bigger scenes in death metal and there have been many successful bands that have come out of ohio like regurgitation, clean flesh and etc. so naturally i get excited when i hear of new bands from ohio much like this band corpulate. corpulate is probably different from other bands your used to hearing from ohio i mean they sound so unique and diverse and their sound almost teeters on an experimental sound if you ask me. the songs are short like one or two minutes long but they have varied parts like grinding, slamming, and chaotic technical parts too. as for the slams they are influenced a lot by dripping and the riffs are catchy but also chunky and chuggy at the same time which i really love but back to the slams, the slam parts are very short and don't last long enough. theres lots of tempo changes from slams to grinding parts or the technical parts which tend to remind me of cephalic carnage. the vocals are low gutturals of course and they fit the bands sound very well more so than other bands, the vocal parts and all instruments can be heard equally well with nothing being louder than another and all the songs are catchy and easily remembered while still being sick as fuck. corpulate is one of the more diverse and promising newcomers from ohio or in death metal as a whole which as to no surprise here they recently signed with macabre mementos records so keep your eyes open and watch out for their full length when it's available.

Cranial Disinterment

Links:
Myspace Website
Cranial Disinterment consists of Lyn and Sean from Crepitation and Ingested respectively and in this band Lyn handles the vocals and drum programming while Sean plays guitar and does vocals as well. now in UK it's not rare to find side projects or band members having more than one band at a time and this is just another one of those situations.

the band sounds similar to crepitation and ingested in some ways obviously but the vocals are different between the bands. lyn uses low gurgles and i can hear some other guest vocalists vocals as well but i don't know who it is but they add a sick impact and some more variety to the band. the guitar sounds are clear like ingested so that's good i guess sean was trying to play some more complex and technical riffs than ingested has to offer.cranial disinterment has some killer slams and breakdowns but also has fast and technical parts as well. and the final piece, the drum machine, sounds great and perfectly fits the bands sound.

for being a new band from the UK these guys are pretty sick and show that bands from the UK have a place in this kind of music. only one song is on their myspace profile so i hope they'll get some more songs done soon but till then if you been digging the UK's recent slam oriented style bands then give this band a whirl.

Crepitation - Promo 2006

Links:
Myspace Website
It's good to hear some good grinding death from the good old United Kingdom. Just 3 tracks here entitled "Conceived In Mortification", "Incongruous Penilectomy", and Equine Phallic Impalement". These songs will make you immedeately want more. Cast your doubts aside, ALL you brutal heads. This is the shit. The cream of the cunt.

There are six dudes in this band with two disgusting vocalists, so get ready to shit them pants ya got on. Do you like crazy fucked up sounding crickets? I sure hope so! You will think they use vocal effects, they sound that awesome. They are humurous because they do so many pitches. Then, the low vocals come in. I really enjoy their super low gurgles especially. Fucking amazing couple of vocalists they got here in this band.

It's easy to go on about these vocals. I think everyone does haha! As far as the riffs, everyone should be going on about them too! Fucking tons of slams and heavy as fuck riffs. You can tell they enjoy and appreceate all styles of brutal death both old and new too, so it's nice to hear that reflect in their songwriting. They have a little bit of older styled grind riffs along with the newer style of breaks.

The drums are machine on the recording and aren't the best but they give you the idea. Fucking relentless. Can't wait to hear more shit from these guys with a new recording and with the drummer!

Cryptic Abuse - Relentless Dismemberment

Links:
Myspace Website
when you think of one man drum machine bands a lot of examples will come to mind well now you can add another band to that list- cryptic abuse. this is a one man drum machine band by my great friend matt from embludgeoned and he even did all the artwork and layout which looks showing that besides being a talented musician he's also a talented artist. this cd contains a total of 5 songs that are all really diverse and not monotonous if you ask me, on the first song 'inhalation of fecal matter' brian of gutrot spews gutturals as guest vocalist and the collaboration is awesome and is a great way to start off the cd.

matt uses gurgles that remind me of brian of inhuman dissiliency and he also uses some occasional screams. along with the vocals the drum machine parts are similar to inhuman dissiliency as well at some points especially the fast blasting parts. i worried about the tempo changes of the drum machine but it works well, as for the guitar sound he plays riffs that are fast, thick, and experimental riffs that remind me a bit of decaying form and there's some heavy slams and breakdowns in there that remind me of devourment but in general he creates riffs that hook you and draw you into the music.

cryptic abuse has a lot of potential as a drum machine band because it doesn't follow the same pattern as most of the other bands in this style do so if you have the chance to pick this up then don't hesitate.

Cumbeast - Human Piņata

Links:
Myspace Website
I finally got my hands on this cumbeast album which i've been anticipating for a long time now so i was pretty excited to say the least. cumbeast hails from finland and vesa the vocalist is also in maggottholamia who released a split cd with rest in gore not to long ago so i knew these guys since the beginning of my webzine. to start off music wise vesa's vocals are beast like, he uses ultra low gutturals that are deep as fuck and they surprised me when i first heard them while the band itself creates just the right mood and sound that soils of fate also has. the contrast between vesa's vocals and the music is interesting with the guitar riffs reminding me of some of internal bleedings classic slam riffs but i really dig jakes guitar sound and besides internal bleeding his riffs remind me of other nydm bands like entorturement, dehumanized and etc. without sounding like too much of an nydm rip off band. the songs are so catchy and easy to remember so if you are a fan of nydm you must check this material it out it's must own stuff for sure!

Cumgun - Suck The Guts From My Slut

Links:
Band Website
Myspace Website
The wait was finally over for me once I had gotten my hands on Cumgun's follow-up to their 5 song demo disc, AK-47 Blowjobs, and for those of you that have this disc and enjoyed it as much as I did, your expectations for this new EP entitled Suck the guts from my slut might have been fairly high. But the three piece out of Quebec, completely blow their old tracks out of the fucking water and will definitely have people discussing this EP for some time.

For those of you living under a rock since the demo, there has been a line-up change with Joe Landry filling the void on lead vocals and choosing to use his natural shit as opposed to using a pitch shifter, but in my opinion, these vocals fit in much better with the overall sound that guitarist Hugh and drummer Seb produce. If at first you say to yourself would much rather hear another band using vocal effects again, wait about a minute and a half after throwing the disc on and, well you'll see what I mean.

These guys have chosen to keep the songs short and simple, but thats not to say Cumgun fall into the same category as most of the bands out there that take the same path. You can definitely hear hints of CBT and Anal Bleeding. Theres plenty of groove and shit you can move around too or just chill the fuck out, but trust me when I say that there are points in almost every song that make you want to tear the heads of anybody in the same room, so be cautious!

After the first five tracks, Suck the Guts from my Slut shifts its direction, and we hear some live and fully mastered tracks from their set in my home town of Toronto, including a cover of the Hillside Stranglers by Dahmer. And then 9 minutes after the EP gets thrown on, its over. But, definitely leaves you wanting much much more. The disc is a must have and highly recommended. Probably some of the best shit out of Quebec these days. Definitely No. 1 for me.
