1. Hey Mark and Nick!!!thanks for the intie bros.So Mark you are well
known
for the vocalist of
Guttural Engorgement and Nick is in Dysentery.How did you guys hooked
up and
form the band Vermicular Decay togerther?
Mark: After many years of hearing drum machine bands I just havent
found
the sound that would make me want
to listen, so I decided to take it to a new level and treat this band
just
as I would one with a full lineup.
I came up with a name and band concept, Put up a site and advertised
for a
guitarist, It was only a few hours later
Nick happened to hit up the site and sent me an email expressing
interest in
the band, Needless to say I was pretty stoked.
Nick: I was just browsing some myspace shit, bored on a day off from
work. I
saw some sick artwork on one profile.
Upon checking the shit out, I saw it was Mark and that he was looking
for an
axemen.
I was def interested, having heard the new 'GE,' but the distance
between us
was obviously an issue. I dropped
Mark a line telling him of my interest, as well as lamenting reality of
our
respective geographic locations.
Mark was like fuck it, just record, and send me shit. That's how we
hooked
up.
2. Describe the bands sound!
you use drum machine and you call the bands sound guttural programmable
slam
right? Tell us about that also.
Nick: The bands sound is being solidified with each new work. I have
never
collaborated with Mark before so we
are learning as we go. The focus is gonna be on fucking gutteral vox,
realistic sounding drum programs, grinding
guitars etc. It's gonna sound like 'the rotting process'.
Mark: Yea what he said!
3. What bands influence the band alot?
Mark: Dysentery, Abominalbe Putridity, Disconformity, Guttural
Engorgement,
Implements of Hell,
Ivebeenshot, Pencil Lead Syringe, WTC, and TYAG.
Nick: I have been realy moved as of late by alot of JPXDM: Disconfomity
and
Glossectomy, but also by condemned,
devourment and disgorge.
4. Describe your vocals style.and how do your vocals in Vermicular Decay
differ
from ones in Guttural Engorgement? And what bands influence your vocals
style
for this band?
Mark: Bro im all about strait up Gutturals! Expect only the lowest
Gastric
Gurggle!
5. For sure the band includes tons of slams and breakdowns right? so
what
bands
do you guys draw
inspirations to create them? And how do those parts you guys create
differ
from
other slam oriented bands?
Mark: I enjoy bands with a good solid flow and good mix of riffs, But
you
just cant fuck with a good groove
and i think thats waht gets alot of people moving!
Nick: I actually like alot of old school hardcore breakdowns, they are
always in the back of my head
from when i was younger. i mostly draw inspiration from bands like
cephalotripsy, devourment, disconfomity,
and putrid pile.
6. Nick ,describe your playing style. Will the riffs seem like ones in
your
main band
dysentery or something differnt? And what bands influence your
playing
style?
Nick: I cant really describe my playing style. The riffs in Dysentery
are
different than Vermicular Decay
in that Vermicular Decay is more straight ahead gutteral slam. I also
tuned
my guitar down for 'VD'.
With Dysentery, I like to try and throw some variation in the songs to
make
them less conventional
slam or grind, or whatever you wanna call it.
7. What releases and merch will you have for near future?
Mark: Im seraching for a lable interested in releasing this cd. wich we
hope
will be complete by the end of the year.
We will probably do up some shirts aw well but for now we are just
focused
on writting.
8. As for drummachine,Nick do that mainly right?. What drum machine
bands
influence you when you creates them?
Nick: Actually thats all Mark brother.
Mark: Yea im doing all programming, Right now I am my own influence.
I dont want this band to sound like any other digi band out. Im
writting
just as if i were playing them myself!
9. You and Nick have more projects? or you plan to start more new ones?
Mark: Naa "GE"/"VD" thats it, no more bands after these for me
Nick: No new projects for me.
10. The band logo done by Mark is cool as fuck.you are one of the
coolest
artist
for sure.so please tell us your arts and etc.And what bands did you do
logos
and arts for?
Mark: Wow bro i have really streched myself thin doing art for bands
wich
are just to many to name.
I have had trouble keeping up with everyones art so i had to shut it
down
for a while.
Nick: Mark does great work man.
11. What bands have you guys been into recently?
Mark: My fav band at the moment are Dysentery, Abominalbe Putridity,
Disconformity, Guttural Engorgement, Implements of Hell,
Ivebeenshot, Pencil Lead Syringe, WTC, and TYAG.
Nick: Disconformity, the new Vital Remains, Disgorge CTF, Putrid Pile.
