Interview with Billy of Putrefying Cadaverment
1. Hey whats up!!! Thanks for giving me a chance for this
intie!!! First off you and Blake were in Ripped in Half. So why did that band
disband and you form putrefying cadaverment? And tell us the current
line up!!!
Hey man, thanks for the interview, the reason for ripped in half's
disband was personal problems with vocalist and bass player and different
musical interest. Drummer (Billy) and guitarist (Blake) wanted to form a
band with no personal conflict and a unique style of music. Right now
we are a two piece. I (Billy) play the drums and Blake does the guitars
and bass temporarily and vocals permanently.
2. Describe the bands sound!!! For me you use heavy slow slams just
remind me of guttural engorgement and vocals are low as fuck!!! What bands
influence your sound mainly?
As for our sound we are a combination of slow slamming breakdowns with
fast chunky guitar arrangements with grooves, backed by heart pounding
double bass accompanied by gravity blasts and jazz blasts. As for
influences they consist, of but not limited to Wormed, Amputated,
Cephalotripsy, Dripping, Guttural Secrete, Abominable Putridity, Digested Flesh,
Intestinal Alien Reflux, Crepitation and Ingested.
3. Describe Blakes vocals style. What kind of vocals does he use?
And what bands influence his vocal style.
He mainly just uses gutturals. Bands that influence his vocal style
are: Crepitation, Guttural Engorgement, and Cephalotripsy.
4. Describe each of your instruments sound and bands influence to come
up with your current playing style.
The guitars are tuned low for that extra thick heavy sound. We're
really into real blasty death grind and slow hard hitting slams, and we
love technicality as well. We are influenced by the technicality of
such bands as Beneath the Massacre and Defeated Sanity to the crunchy,
heavy sounds of Abominable Putridity and Vomit Remnants.
5. You guys use tons of slams remind me of guttural engorgement. And
theres some devourment styled breakdowns. Who mainly create those
parts and what bands do you draw inspirations?
It is a mutual writing process. We both bring the ideas to the table,
its not limited to one person writing. We do listen to Guttural
Engorgement and Devourment but we also draw influences for our slam
sections from bands such as Trenchhead and Inhuman Dissiliency.
6. Generally how does writing songs work? And what kind of gears do you
guys use?
The two of us get together and just share our ideas and we work to put
them into action and we suggest ideas for each other. It is a simple
two man process with no interfering conflicts. Guitarist/Vocalist uses:
Marshall cabs, Peavey xxx Heads, Ibanez guitars/basses, Behringer pa
equipment and Shure mics. Our drummer uses: Pearl Drums, Pearl Pedals,
Ludwig Snare, Sabian Cymbals, Pro-Mark Sticks, and Ddrum Triggers.
7. Tell me a bit about your previous band Ripped in Half. That band has
recorded songs? And how does ripped in half differ from putrefying
cadaverment?
Ripped in Half started as a side project band, not completely serious
but wound up being more serious than expected. I, (Billy) played drums
and Blake played guitar. We unfortunately do not have any recorded
material due to the fact that the band fell through with vocalist and
bassist before we were able to hit the studio. That band and Putrefying
Cadaverment differ in the ways that the vocalist of Ripped In Half used
tons of "bree" vocals and we have now moved away from that style and we
are more interested in the guttural style vocals. The music of Ripped was
beginning to go in a hardcore direction, and we lost interest in that
and wanted a more brutal sound. Which is the result in Putrefying
Cadaverment.
8. The band logo looks so sick and gory!! Who did it?
Mad props go out to Paul Slagle for our completely sick and twisted
logo and site design.
9. What releases will you have and do you have some upcoming merch?
We are hoping for a full length by Fall/Winter of 2007, We are checking
in to shirts and stickers as we speak.
10. Hows scene there? Any new sick bands coming out of North
Carolina? And what bands have you been into recently?
Horrible!!! North Carolina has become almost entirely a hardcore scene.
Very few death metal bands have come out of North Carolina. The ones
that stick out are, Lust of Decay, Atrocious Abnormality, Bloodsoaked,
Domination Through Impurity. Which are all signed to Comotose. We've
really been into impure and inherit disease here lately, those dudes
are sick.
11. Besides putrefying cadaverment ,you guys have any other projects?
No side projects. All of our attention is based around writing for this
project. We feel this is a very serious and productive project so we
feel that side bands would interfere with our productivity.
12. Thanks for the intie, any last words you would like to add?
We would like to thank Seiji for this sick interview. And look out for
our full length before the end of this year!!
