Interview with Postmortem Disembowelment
1. thanks for the interview.if im not mistaken, postmortem disembowelment is based out of north carolina.there are some good bands such as lust of decay, putrefying cadaverment, atrocious abnormality and etc.but you guys sound differnt from those bands.so first off tell us how the band started and how you guys came up with the current sound. 4. vocals are gurgles and lows.describe your vocals style and how many vocalists does the band have? i guess not only one vocalist but more than two right? and how does the combination of some vocals work? 9. hows north carolina scene? any new slam style bands you worth mentioned?
Well we started back in summer of 2006 under a different name and different sound.we were called "Anna Morgan" and mostly played stuff like Underneath the Gun and Elysia. But had decided that we werent happy with the sound or the name our old singer was so fond of. Thats when we changed it to Postmortem Disembowelment and started working on our music and just concentrated on it being as heavy and brutal as it could. North Carolina has a lot of good bands. We cant wait to get a show with Putrefying Cadaverment.
2. describe the bands sound bro.what bands influence bands sound?
Basically our three guitarist take all their influences and put them together. We try to just make all our songs as brutal as possible and make sure to keep it death. We strive to keep a lot of the "core" breakdowns and "core" two steps out of our music. Our main influences are, Devourment, Gutrot, Gutteral Secrete,Whitechapel, The Partisan Turbine, Disconformity, Nile, Origin, and the list could go on.
3. you guys play slams and breakdwons some times remind me of devourment.is devourment major influence for the band? and any other bands influence you guys when you create those parts?
Definitely. Devourment is our biggest influence. But we also draw influence for slams from Gutrot,Disconformity, Revanence, and also The partisan Turbine.
On our recording we only have one vocalist doing the track and thats our drummer Bryan. We lost our old vocalist due to a busy life that wouldnt work well being in a band. Right now we substitute our bassist as our singer.
The crowd seems to like him on vocals a lot. He mixes from peircing highs to low gurgle lows and just straight low growls.
5. what kind of gears do you guys use? and how does writting songs work?
We run with a Mesa/Boogie Dual rectifier head and cab, an Ibanez head and cab, and our other guitarists currently has a Randal stack with a deathmetl pedal from Digitech. Two of our guitarist use Ibanez guitars rg series and the other uses an awesome ltd. Our drummer plays pacific drums. Our writing process is simple. Everyone in the band can play guitar so everyone makes different riffs and we bring them to the table and put them together with the drums and such and once the song is done the lyrics are made to the song right then. We work together on everything.
6. you listen to waking the cadaver, the partisane turbine and some new style death netal bands right? is it safe to say postmortal disembowelment also belongs to this kinda music or something deiffernt?
I believe its safe to put us into that genre. We love waking the cadaver and the partisan turbine so to be put along with them is cool as hell. I dont think we are doing something really different right now but who knows. We may have
a few tricks up our sleeve.
7. what kind of releases and merch will you have?
Well we were workig on an upcoming ep recording it in our studio but we decided that it would be better to record with someone else. So right now we are setting up some time in the studio for July or early August, to record an 8 song lp. Which will hopefuly be ready for a Fall release. We are also in the process of ordering shirts. Hopefully we will have them soon.
8. the band logo is so nice and looks so cool.who did it and you guys like this kind of logos done by pc?
We love our logo. Out buddies at Fleshlovers hooked us up for free and made this killer logo. we like the pc logos but probably wouldnt mind some designs done by hand. We are always looking for some new stuff to add to our collection.
NC has a lot of promising bands and they are really good at that.We have been talking with Putrefying Cadaverment here lately and we really want to get on a show with them, maybe even a tour. but the bands around our area are mostly hardcore/metal or deathcore. No real slam bands popping up right now. But we support all our local friends and their bands.
10. what bands have you been into recently?
Lately we have all been into, The Partisan Turbine, the new Waking the Cadaver, and Malodorous
11. you guys have side bands besides postmortem disembowelment?
Not as of now but we have been talking about starting up a side project which would be another death metal band. So be looking out for that.
12. thanks for the intie.any last words you would like to say to ID zines readers?
