Interview with Neil from Plerosis

1. hey neil! i'm glad to finally interview you bro i'm a huge fan ofæ your previous band dyscrasia. i was really sad when dyscrasia split up but now you returned to the scene with your new band plerosis! so first of all tell us why dyscrasia split up and why did you start plerosis? and tell us the current line up of plerosis!
Greetings! I appreciate the kind words about Dyscrasia! Dyscrasia has actually been done for more than a year now. We all decided to go seperate ways, and after a few final shows we ended it. As far as Plerosis, I just wanted to jam and keep playing brutal shit so I started programming a drum machine and went with it. Right now the line up is just me and my brutal bro BD.

2. can you describe the bands sound for us? i've heard you say it's like retch meets dyscrasia? feel free to add names of bands that play in the similar style as your own and how does dyscrasia influence plerosis's sound? for instance when you create guitar riffs for plerosis do you use dyscrasia styled chugging riffs?
The sound we started with was very hardcore slam influenced, and now we've progressed towards the brutal Devourment/Dying Fetus slam and speed. I would say it's sorta Dyscrasia meets Retch. Most brutal bands influence us, but considering I was a main riff contributer to Dyscrasia the way I write is present in Plerosis.

3. i must say your gurgles and gutturals are sick as fuck! any vocalists influence you? and which do you prefer exhale or inhale gutturals? and why do you take back vocals but not main vocals?
I'd definately say that when I heard Disgorge's "Cranial Impalement" that was the reason I wanted to start doing sick vocals. So, Matti way for sure, Ruben Rosas, the old Mortal Decay vocalist, Demilich vocals, to name a few. I'd say the vocals are really split more half and half. You'll be hearing alot of gurgs on the Plerosis release.

4. plerosis dig's the slam stuff correct? what bands influence you to create the slam chugging riffs you guys use?
We live off the brutal fuckin' slam shit! I'd say the likes of Devourment, Guttural Secrete (What up Blue!), Dripping, Goratory, etc.

5. what kind of gear do you use?
Right now all we got are practice amps recorded with a Shure SM57, and the vocals are recorded with PG57s. Otherwise I play a Jackson, and bass is a BCRich Beast. We used a Tascam Portastudio 8track for the recordings on the Myspace site.

6. how is wisconsin's scene? any sick new bands you think we should keep our eyes and ears open for? and how's the brutal shows in your area
There aren't any shows in our part. Over in Milwaukee there are plenty of shows. Screaming Afterbirth, Putrid Pile, and Ulceration are all killer WI bands. I also heard that SikFuk has relocated to the cheese state.

7. what have you been listening to lately? anything you would like to recommend me to check out? and you've heard our japanese bands like disconformity, rest in gore, and infected malignity right?
Definately been jamming the new bands like Ochidectomy, Syphilic, etc. The new Devourment rules, and I'm pumped to hear the new Guttural Secrete and Saprogenic. I listen to alot of black metal as well. Some of the NoEvDia bands.

8. what releases will you have for near future? maybe a demo or a full length or something and will it be self-released or will a label get the chance to release your debut stuff?
I think we are going to try and get a demo out. We've been talking to our friend Butchered Bitch who is also from here. We're both drum machine bands so I'd be cool to put out a split demo possibly. It'd have to be self released at first. Hopefully we'll get offers to put out a full length in the near future.

9. any of the other members that were in dyscrasia still play this kind of music? and do you plan on reforming dyscrasia anytime in the future? (i really hope that)
Our drummer Jon still plays. He actually played one show with us a few months back, but do to distance and time, we've decided to stick with the drum machine for now. Otherwise the other 2 Dyscrasia don't jam much as far as I know. Unfortunately, I wouldn't expect to see Dyscrasia back, but you never know. We all still keep in contact.

10. how long have you been doing vocals? and how did you come up with these sick gurgles and gutturals? how'd you learn to do them and what do you prefer guitar or bass?
Oh geez. I've been practicing brutal vox since I was a high school freshman. It's been a long time, and I think from what people say, that it's paid off. I'd say that I prefere the guitar right now, but I pick up the bass and twang it from time to time. I am the Milk Monster!

11. what's the main goal of the band's sound? you try to do more sick gurgles and gutturals, or create tons of breakdowns and etc?
We just wanna do what we do. We love brutal death metal, and we want to make it sick as we can. Total double gurgle action to the max, and yes, tons of slam breakdown shit. Gotta make it sick!

12. so, in the near future what's the plan for plerosis, any gigs etc?
Not any gigs no. If we ever find a drummer we may play live, but for now just writing for a release. Then merch hopefully.

thanks neil! i'm glad to have interviewed you. i hope to keep in touch with you as always.any comments that you would to add like plugs or shout-outs?
Thanx alot bro! i really appreciate the interview! Just sayin what up to my guy Blue in G.S. and the WI crew(SA, PP, Ulceration, Butchered Bitch!)
