Interview with Carcass of Morbidium
1. Hey bro!!! Thanks for the intie!!! So first off, tell us a
brief history of Morbidium!!! So how did the band start and what
motivated you to start it? 8. I really dig the demo!!! So how has the response been to it? Also,
what releases will you be putting out in the near future?
Chivas Regal Amigos!!! So, Morbidium was born in the middle of year
2003. former and still current members are Gosh/vox/ and carcass/git/.
till the late 2005 we have abusing drum machine instead of live drummer.
during this time, we recorded our first demo CD "Decayed Remains Taken
From Butcher's Morgue" and played severel shows all over Slovakia and
one gig in Czech Republic. In December 2005, we started to work with
our friend and drummer of band Distrophy, but due to the work he had to
left band and so we stagnate until august 2006, when we found new
drummer Psycho }he is also drummer in band Diftery). after few jams, we recorded our new EP "Fraility in Human Endurance", which you can get for free, all you need is to contact me or look for it on some metal-forum and it shall be released in one netlabel and there shall be able to download for free too:)
2. Describe the bands sound!!! Also, what bands influence you
guys mainly, and how did you guys come up with the name Morbidium?
Maybe there's a special meaning behind it?
the band sounds by my opinion in classic way of US BDM, so be prepared
for down-tunned heavy guitars and penetrating drums, fucked together with
guttural madness!!! main influence is for example Disgorge(US),
Devourment, Liturgy, Goretrade etc. etc. there is a lot of bands we like
and so the list can go on and on forever:) there is no special backround
behind name Morbidium, we came up with it cause early our lyrics were
fucking sick and full of gore. nowadays, we aren't writing such kind of
lyrics anymore, but i am sure that our music is so sick, that name
Morbidium is ideal for our band!!
3. The vocals sound like really low gutturals to me!!! Also, all the
instruments are so solid and tight!!! Describe each parts sounds and
tell us each of your influences!!!
I think that our sound is mainly and heavily abused and influent by US BDM bands and style, so every instrument sound almost typical for this genre. But is hard to find one or few influences of every instrument, cause I think that even that our sound can remind you that or that band, it is still hard to find current influence. But mainly guitars can remind you maybe Suffocation or US Disgorge, vocals Wormed last album and drums Goretrade old records:)
4. As for slam parts and breakdowns, how do you guys come up with ideas
for them? Also, are there any bands you guys draw inspirations from?
Slam and breakdowns fucking rule and they are one of the reasons, why am I so addicted to BDM. Slams are mostly (de)composed by me and breandown are made dutiny laying with drummer. Alma Mater of Slam - Devourment and Depraved Father of Breakdowns - Goretrade (Zombiecronomicon split w/Corpsefucking 2001) were my main influences all over the years I play BDM.
5. What kind of gear setup do you use? Also, how does writing songs
work?
so, to the gear: Gosh is using classic Behringer micro, nothing special and by my opinion, no vocalist need any special gear, just work on your growl and all kind of gear shall be good for you. Psycho is blasting on Sonor Drums. He uses DM5 drum module to get his typical sound and is equipped with fresh nice sound cymbals (you know, good drum sound costs some money) and I am abusing BC Rich Beast guitar with EMG pick-up. This is to the gear everything I hope. The song writing is guitar simple, I make guitar riffs and Psycho make drum parts. Together, we create song structure, work it out and Gosh simply make his own vocal parts into finished song.
6. As for instruments, what do you guys care about the most to create
the sick as fuck music for instance, over downtuned guitars, tipped tin
can drum sound etc?
Hm, this is hard to answer. We don't think have any special need as for the sound. All we need is to have as you wrote downtunned guitars which can slice dead meat and tipped tin can drums, as you can hear, these are typical for Morbidium and maybe for all BDM bands. Expect this, there are no special cares or needs.
7. Hows Slovakia's scene? Any new sicker bands like your band there?
Also, do the people like guttural slamming style or technical style?
Slovakia's scene is doing well mostly in last five or seven years. There have risen some really fucking good bands like Craniotomy and Eternal Bleeding, which are by my opinion one of the beast BDM bands in Europe, beside such names like Despondency or Vomit The Soul. As for the fresh young bands, I have to recommend Diftery, which is also fucking great and maybe the best US Disgorge BDM style playing band I have ever heard. Last two years, it seems to me, that there is less and less fans, so I hope there shall be some fresh meat for decimation!!!
it is awesome, how great have been responses till now. There have been one or two non well or bad, but except that just positive responses. I am surprised, that fans all over the world are actually such interested in our sick music and it fills me with proud, when even musicians and some of my BDM icons are interested in Frailitz (but I am not turning into supercilious fartfuck:) ). next release shall be seven or eight song CD, I hope we shall hit the studio in summer. Keep on searching our pages (www.myspace.com/morbidium) for news.
9. What bands have you been into recently?
there have been several of them, expect classics like Internal Suffering or Sinister mostly in Waking the Cadaver promo, Guttural Secrete, Sikfuk, Grotesque Formation etc.etc. there is so many cool bands and the time to listen them is so short, oh such a shame.
10. Do you have any other bands besides Morbidium?
Our new drummer Psycho is also blasting drums in band Diftery, as I have told in previous answers. Expect this, we have currently no other bands or projects. Some time ago Gosh have been as a vocalist in project called Foeticide, but due to school duties he had to quit it.
11. Tell us the future plans bro!!!!
Morbidium's nearest plans to the future are simple, restitute live performance!!! I hope that in new year, there shall be Morbidium official website hanged on the internet and maybe some skilled bassmasturbator or guitaronanizer can join us:) but main is live performance, so if is anybody interest in Morbidium, cuntacs us on morbidium@centrum.sk and we shall make a deal!!!!
Thanks bro!!! Any last words??
