1. hey bro thanks for giving me the chance to interview you for your band meconium. so how did this band get it's start anyways?
korey andrew ivan ruben and diego all local metal fans and musicians and friends joined forces to play heavy music but after a few shows diego and ivan went seperate ways and Meconium broke up, when Anthony (drummer from something that kills people) left his band we asked him to Join and were Reborn!
2. you guys call the bands sound arizona death slam so what kind of sound is that exactly and can you compare it with any other bands?
we like the groovy "slam riff" parts of metal and blend it in with the faster westcoast style blast and grind. West coast death style mixed with east coast style slam.. other "death slam" bands to us would be internal bleeding, devourment, suffocation, dehumanized, lividity shit like that
3. you use various vocals like gutturals, squeals and the occasional hardcore style screams so where do you get inspiration from for all these different types of vocals?
thats all ruben the volkillist, he has killer range and great ideas uses no effects and is very loud. we wouldnt have it any other way..we all listen to differnt styles of metal and like to switch it up, Ruben knows what sounds brutal.
4. how do you guys create your songs? is their any particular order of creation or do you just go with the flow?
we try not to think about it too much, if the riff is heavy and we havent heard it before we stick with it and the music just flows out. we just freestyle and if it sounds good remember what we did and replay it and perfect it.
5. what kind of gear do you use?
behringer/genzbenz bass rig epiphone 4 string. crate/b52 guitar rig ibanez 6 string w/ seamore duncan pickups. gretsch drums, paiste cymbals, roland, alesis and peavy electronics
6. tell us about arizonas scene, i love enmity but are there any other good bands you would like to recommend to us?
the scene here is great the people that come to the shows are into it. theres so many bands around now its hard to keep up, check out etts, bound by blasphemy, he who binds himself, lunatic vision, inducing terror theres so many..
7. what bands have you been into recently?
despised icon, misericordian, hate eternal
8. seems like your into hardcore as well as death metal so how do you take essences from hardcore and blend it with brutal death?
our drummer is from the new york hardcore and deathmetal scene... ideas just come to us and we blend the style in, we all love to mosh so we make music to mosh too aka death slam
9. your logo was done by mike majewski of devourment right? what made you choose him for the logo, are you guys big devourment fans?
devourment kicks fucking ass!!! ofcourse we are big fans.. Anthony is friends with mike, not sure how he got the logo out of him but it rules and we think it fits us perfectly, we all knew mike was the man for the job.
10. do you guys have any other projects going on besides this one?
no we are all about Meconium
11. so what are the bands plans for the future in regards to shows or releases and merch?
right now we are writting all new songs and we plan to come back in 07, a demo cd, plenty of awsome shirts for the pit mongers, decals and goodies for the ladies too.. we look forward to touring and many many many shows with brutal pits and big tits
