Interview with Kristoffer from Level Above Human

1. hey dude!! i'm so excited to finally be able to interview you!! we'll start out this interview with standard questions.how did the band start and how long has the band been around?
Hey seiji,LAH started out during the summer of 2004. Me (Kristoffer) and Daniel had been looking for a drummer for quite some time when we got in contact with Linus by a coincidence when he had answered an ad that we had put up a long time ago and totally forgot about it.So we tried him out and he could pull off what we where trying to do, and that's about it...

2. what instrument do you play? and? introduce the other members to us.
I play guitars and do some backing vocals, Daniel does the vocals and Linus plays with himself. We are currently looking for a bassplayer.

3. i've listened to one song that's up on the net and i fucking love it, so describe your music for those who don't know level above human.
Well. kinda hard to describe...death/grind with a twist. We just write what we think sound good. Influences from pretty much any kind of music really. The song that's on the net right now pretty much sucks from our point of view the recording is utter crap and the performance as well we didn't really have any time to do it good which sucked big time, the new stuff will be a lot better we going to rerecord Cataleptic Condition and a brand new one called A Homing Signal From the End of Infinity as a demo/promo during the summer.

4. what bands are the main influences for? you when you write the music and lyrics?
I'd have to say Wormed, Ion Dissonance, Malignancy and a whole lot more but those are some of our favorite bands. As for lyrics I think Daniel writes about the darker side of the human pshyce and stuff like that

5. i bet you guys are good? friends with vomitous,nerve(ex-stabwound,uffe rules!!!).you ever play with them or chill with them?
We've never played with them but we've been in contact with them over the Internet so it's all good.

6. any sick new bands worth checking? out in sweden? i recently heard the degrade cd on permeated recs.
Hmmm, new bands....Obscene is great check them out at www.obscene.se, and then there's a bunch other bands on the rising

7. sweden is famous for death metal .i guess over there alot people play melodic death metal.but you have chosen the most brutal way. why??
Because that's what we love can't really say much more about it hehe...

8. how did you come up with the name level above human? what does it mean?
It's actually taken from a sect/cult called Heaven's Gate that talked alot about it and we thought it sounded good and fit us.It kinda reflects our view on how the human mind can come up with some fucked up things.

9. you guys love when death metal uses cool breakdowns?? in sweden, vomitous and nerve love that style. do you?
Yeah, a really good breakdown will make you want to destroy everything around you, I can dig it.

10. what releases? will you have in future?
Hopefully we'll have a proper demo out by this summer. However there's been a bunch of problems with recordings in the past but hopefully it will work out this time around.

11. have you heard of any of the bands from the japanese scene? vomit remnants, disconformity, rest in gore, infected malignity? are all worth checking out. you into them?
Yeah, the japanese scene is probably one of the strongest in the world currently and we like almost anything we can come across from japan/asia.Glossectomy is probably one of my favourites, oh and Woundeep.

12. do you plan on making any merchandise? i personally want a level above human t-shirt.
Definatly, when the time is right hehe. Probably after we've finally released a proper demo. We'll hook you up when it's done Seiji

13. the band logo is sick as hell!! who did it for you? where did you get the idea from?
All the credit for the logo being good should go to Jon Zig (www.jonzig.com) cause he did it, he's an awesome artist.

14. so, in the near future, what's the plan for level above human?
Write new material, get a bassplayer, record a fucking demo and that's about it hehe, oh and of course everyone wants to improve on their instruments.

15. okay last question, you got the chance to play some shows, how did that work out and how was the response?
We haven't played any shows yet but since we don't have a bassplayer where not that intrested in playing live right now but we're definatly looking forward to it.

thanks a lot for the killer interview!! i'll keep supporting level above human!! do you have any last words or comments for the fans?
We'd like to give you a big thanks for the interview and the awesome support for underground bands. thanks seiji!
