Interview with Sow of Jenovavirus

1. Hey bro thanks for the interview! First off tell us how the band started and what's the current line up?
The band consists of me on vocals, ATUTICIAN on guitar and programing and pogo our video programmer (we play some brutal videos as samples at shows). in the end of 2005 me and ATUTICIAN were in other bands but after both bands split up i asked him if he wanted to start a brutal death band and we asked POGO who did the band logo to join the band as the video programmer.

2. describe the sound of JENOVAVIRUS in your own words and what bands can you compare yourself with?
satan, death, one hundred billions despairs and etc! We can compare our sound with Dripping. other bands that influenced us are DEVOURMENT. VOMIT REMNENTS, SUFFOCATION, DYING FETUS, VENETIAN, SNARES, ATOMANDHISPACKAGE, MAYHEM and etc. there's tons of bands that influence us so i don't remember all the bands.

3. Which do you like to use inhale or exhale gutturals and why? And how did you come up with your current vocal style?
i use inhales and the vocalist that influences me is sortsind.

4. you guys use samples in your songs and you project images on a screen so what kinds of images do you display and why did you start doing that?
we use samples because we want to emphasize the brutality and mood of the songs and as for the images I want you to actually see the brutality as well.

5. What kind of gear do you guys use?
ATUTICIAN uses an IBANEZ RG7 guitar, a BEHRINGER V-amp pro, a KORG ELECTRIBE, a ZOOM RT-323, a ROLAND mc-303, and a KORG D-3200 and POGO uses an Apple iBOOK G4 and a KORG kaptivator.

6. As for the drum machine how did you learn to program it and what's the strong points of using a drum machine over a real drummer?
i learned how to program by myself when I was in my previous band and I started to do drum programming when we got the demo done. and as for the benefits of a drum machine, they can achieve the quickness, correctness, and impossible parts that a human drummer cant do.

7. How is the demo distributed around now? And what releases will you have for the near future?
The demo isn't really getting distributed as well as we'd like it to be but it's out there and our plans for the near future are unclear as of right now.

8. i personally feel jenovavirus reminds me of glossectomy at times so are you a fan of theirs and what are some other favorite jpdm bands of yours?
Yeah i really like glossectomy and vomit remnants too.

9. The band has some cool breakdowns and other cool parts too so what parts do you prefer personally?
I really dig the slam parts, blasting riffs and grooves and the crushing vocals!!

10. When it comes to writing songs how does that work?
We always argue about what types of riffs we want to create and as a result after a while we notice that we basically have a song made up from arguing so much.

11. What bands and releases have you been into recently?
FELDGRAU, WOLD, ULVER, SORTSIND, DEATH IN JUNE

12. Anything you would like to add?
Thanks for the interview seiji! Thanks for your support as always. and keep watching jenovavirus hopefully we'll have a full length out soon! Keep it sick
