1. Hey blue!!!! Thanks for the intie!!! First off, tell us a brief bio of Guttural Secrete and current line up!!!
We started in 2002, went through a few line up changes over the years and Matt on bass and backing vocals.
2. You guys sound so diverse!!! I'm sure you've established the "Guttural Secrete style", so describe the band's sound and what bands influence the band?
I dont think we have established our sound yet, but we are getting closer to where we want to be. As far as influence, shit man, the list could go on and on. Definitley bands like Malignancy, Wormed, Iniquity and anything in that vein!
3. I guess the band has progressed forward to a more sicker way since the first demo was released. So actually how has the sound changed since then and what's the turning point for that?
Well, every since we picked up randy on second guitar it has just gotten sicker cause that fucker is a brutal guitarist and he has helped a ton with the writing process. It's all about progression!!
4. Your vocals are such deep gutturals!! Who can you compare your vocals with? Also, besides gutturals, what kind of vocals do you use?
Fuck bro, thanks for the compliment! I'm not sure who i would compare them to, i'm sure everyone has their own opinion on who I might sound similar to. Besides gutturals, i do the high pitch screams and some mid growls. I'm trying to mix it up more.
5. You play the guitar parts with vocals at the same time. You also have many patterns of guitar riffs. So describe your playing style and who influences your current style?
shaun from putrid pile is a sick fucker, he makes that shit look easy, also erik from deeds of flesh as well. I give props to anyone that can play and do vocals at the same time!
6. Recently your new CD was out on Unmatched Brutality recs. So how was the response to it?? I know its great feed back only to it hehe. Also what points do we need to catch attentions for it?? Anyways tell us about new CD hehe!!!
The response has been really good so far. we are happy with how it turned out, but for the next release, we are really going to take our time and get everything sounding how we want it.
7. Breakdowns and slams are integral for Guttural Secrete right? So what do they mean for you and the band?
Theres nothing better than going from insane blasting into a disgusting fucking slam!! You can straight murder mother fuckers to that shit!
8. As for those parts, who mainly creates them? Also, what do you care the most to do that?
Me and randy write all the songs 50/50 anymore. We both agree on where and when different parts will be played.
9. What kind of gear setup do you guys use? And how does writing songs work? Tell us the whole process of it!
Right now, I just plug straight into a dual rec. mesa boogie head, and I play a bc rich beast. Like I said before, randy and i write the music 50/50.
10. I heard you guys performance at shows is awesome. So tell us about that and what do you care while playing shows?
We try to be as intense as possible. It does suck though when people just stand there and not move. we want to put on a good show every time we play. It makes it all worth it seeing people get the fuck down!
11. You guys are good friend with Artery Eruption and Inhuman Dissiliency!!! Tell us the relationship between them and your band, and any other bands
you have good connections with like those bands? Also, how do you guys brutalize the scene with them?
The guys in those bands are hands down some of the best fucking dudes ive ever met in my life. You couldnt ask for better homies. I keep in contact quite a bit with Danny from malignancy, justin from orchidectomy, Neil from dyscrasia and a bunch of other cool fuckers!!!
12. How's the Nevada scene? Any sick bands following after Guttural Secrete?
It's not very good out this way man, there are some bands with potential, but a lot of them break up after a short while. There's two bands that we kinda know out here called Molotov Solution and Misericordiam. They get the fuck down at there shows!!
13. What bands have you been into recently? Also, recently have you found any new sick bands at myspace etc?
Theres always new bands coming out on myspace. it's a good thing, but at the same time some people put out fucking shit that is a waste of time. I've been jammin the Happy Face cd alot lately, I fuckin love those bastards!!
14. Are you guys are in any other bands besides Guttural Secrete?
Randy has got his side project, Vomitricide, but it's kind of on the back burner right now. Other than that, no, only guttural.
15. Tell us the band's future plan regarding releases, merch, and shows etc!!!
We should have new shirts and hoodies soon, along with stickers and other dumb shit like that. We are working on new material so fuck the world up with, so hopefully we will achieve what we are going for.
