Interview with Tim of Eggbeater Abortion

1. hey tim.first off you are drummer of guttural engorgement now.im so intrested in your previous band eggbeater abortion.thats why i decided to do intie with you for aggbeater abortion.first off how did the band start? and tell us the line up!
-Well, the band first started in 05 when a friend of ours, Matt, came to Brian and I wanting to start something up. We then recruited Chris to play bass. I played drums and Brian was the guitarist. Both Brian and I are now in Guttural Engorgement.

2. describe the bands sound bro.you said its kinda mix of hard core, brutal death, grind core and some genres maybe tell us about that in detail.and what bands influence the band mainly?
-At the time, we were all pretty influenced by Despised icon. Brian and I also were influenced by Devourment and the likes. Matt was pretty big into hardcore and stuff like Psyopus. Chris listens to a pretty eclectic mix of music from grindcore to more experimental type stuff.

3. you use squeals right? so describe your vocals style and what bands do you compare your vocals with?
-Yeah we used a mix of squeals, growls, and screams. It's hard to compare how our vocals were to anyon else. Matt just kind of did what he want without really sticking to just one type of vocal type.

4. describe each instruments sound and tell us influence bands too.and how did you guys create songs for eggbeater abortion?
-Brian used a pretty low tuned 7 string which of course gives it a somewhat unique sound. I used a fairly large kit since I like to have a good mix of toms and cymbals to have more possibilities to be creative. Chris used a 5 string bass to match Brian's low tuned 7 string. Many bands influenced us. As I said, bands like Despised Icon, Devourment, The Red Chord, and anything we all really listened to.

5. for sure theres slams and breakdowns in songs right? those parts seems like ones you use for guttural engorgement?
-We used breakdowns more in Eggbeater. We would throw in the occasional slam though. Guttural Engorgement is of course more slam oriented.

6. the band logo is pretty cool.mark of GE did it right? how do you think about the logo and his work?
-Yeah. Mark did our logo. Brian met Mark on a whim around the time we started Eggbeater and I was introduced to him later. We found out he did some pretty sick artwork and asked him to do a logo for us. Brian and Mark jammed occasionally which pretty much lead to the start of GE in 06.

7. hows your state south carolina scene? and your scene and north carolinas scene have good connection each other and any new sick bands from both states?
-Well, the SC scene kind of sucks really. Mostly a bunch of metalcore/screamo bands that pop up and take over everything. NC seems a bit better. Atleast they have bands like Lust of Decay, Atrocious Abnormality, and Malebolgia.

8. what bands have you been into recently?
-I've been into Dysentery a lot lately, of course the mighty Devourment, Abominable Putridity (their new shit sounds sick!), Crime Mob...hahaha.

9. why did the band split up and how did you join guttural engorgement? and you have plan to reform eggbeater abortion?
-Well a couple of the guys started getting real busy with work and school and practices began to get less frequent. After a while we just kinda stopped. I joined Guttural as it was being started. I actually got kicked out for a brief period since I missed some practices while being out of town for a bit. Stupid right? haha Just a few weeks later though I was asked back and then we got the GE ball rolling. As far as reforming Eggbeater, I'm not sure. I'd like to. We've all been talking of atleast starting a new band.

10. i heard from you that you will start new band with brian another member of guttural engorgement.it seems like what you wanted to do in eggbeater abortion? and any more projects you plan to work on?
-Well as mentioned, Brian was in Eggbeater. This new band with all the members from Eggbeater was originally planned to just be more grind influenced. As I said, I'd like to just reform as Eggbeater Abortion and do somewhat of the same thing we were doing before.

11. thanks for the intie tim.tell us your futures plan and any last words you would like to add.
-Future plans include of course the release of GE's first album, The Slow Decay of Infested Flesh. We also are looking to do some light touring sometime this year. Hopefully you'll hear something from Brian, Matt, Chris and I from whatever we decide to do this year as well. Thanks for the interview! I as well as the rest of us appreciate what you do!
