1. hey phillow what's up? i'm so glad to interview a good friend like
yourself for your band disconformity so first off, give us a brief
history of the band and the current line up.
Hey Seiji. What's up? Thank you so much for gave us to such a great
inteview offer. All right,let's start the interview.
-Formed in Nov/2002
Keisuke(G),ex-member of Vagotomy / Glossectomy, got the band started
with Kazz(Dr),member of FASTKILL, and YU-KI(Vo). Later on SHO-GUN(Vo) and
MUNEO(G),ex-member of EXACERBATE, joined the band for the sake of
playing Pure-Slamming Brutal Death Metal.
First line-up was complete after PHILLOW(B) joined. With twin-guitar
and twin-guttural style, the band started rehearsal and perform live
mainly in Tokyo-Japan, with DEFILED, WOUNDEEP and various bands.
Due to difference of musical stance YU-KI(Vo) left the band (June/2003)
and MUNEO(G) left on June/2004.
In April/2005,34-SICK(Gu,ex-member of VISCERA INFEST,GLOSSECTOMY)
joined in DISCONFORMITY. True FAR EAST BRUTALITY line up was completed...
2. describe the bands sound and what bands influence you guys?
We're influensed by various genre of music, METAL, HARDCORE, JAZZ,
CLASSIC... especially by NYDM-Suffocation, Pyrexia(surmon- era), Immolation
and Japanese Grindcore
3. who comes up with all those slams and breakdowns? and what bands do
you guys mainly draw inspiration?
Guitarists-Keisuke and 34-sick comes up almost slams and breakdowns.
They draw inspiration from SUFFOCATION,PYREXIA,INTERNAL
BREEDING,DEHUMANIZED etc.. especially from mid days NYDM bands.
4. how do you guys evolve the sounds that inspire you to create
disconformity's sound?
First,guitarists write song and programming drumm patterns on drum
machine. Then we practice each in home and remember the riffs.After that,we
are jamming and practice the song at rehearsal studio and change some
riffs and drum patterns. I'm thinking crazy bass play and techs at home when I practice the
song. And I often hits many ideas when we practice.
5. some of you were in hardcore bands and listen to those kind of bands right? so do hardcore style bands influence disconformity in a way?
SHO-GUN and ex-guitarist MUNEO were in a band called EXACERBATE. They
were Hard Core band but they played songs that sounds like TXDM style. I
have not been so influenced from Hard Core bands. Because bass play of
Hard Core is so simple and not fun for me.. SHO-GUN loves Hrd Core so
much!! He is listening Hard Core from when he was teenager.
6. what kind of gear you guys use?
I use SPECTOR 5 strings bass on DR Lo-Rider strings and EMG
pickups,head amp is SWR 750X. Keisuke uses ESP guitar and MESABOOGIE head
amp,34-sick uses JACKSON guitar and ENGL head amp. Kazz uses trigger just only
on bass drum.
7. shoguns vocals are very guttural i really dig them, so who influence
his vocals? and phillow do you do any backing vocals?
I think maybe he has been influenced from DEVOURMENT-Wayne and Ruben.
8. i've been to some disconformity shows and the fans go crazy every
time and start big mosh pits so tell us about disconformity's performance in
shows and what you like to see from the fans as far as reactions to the music.
We think DISCONFORMITY sounds are kind of dance music. So we want
audience to keep killer moshing during our show. Of course,also just
standing and watching or keep crazy head banging are ok. We really appreciate
all fans who come to our show always. I can see mosh pit from the stage
and remember always.
9. what releases will you have in the immediate future?
We are planning to release our 1st full CD in this year.. Ah,maybe I
said like that in last year,too..haha.. We are going slowly.. But
hopefully finaly we will be able to release in this year!! I really hope so!!
10. tell us about the japanese death metal and hardcore scenes, any new
good bands from either scene?
I don't know well about Hard Core scene recently.. I think DEATH METAL
scene became bigger than before. Some new bands appear recently and
doing shows often. Especially I really recommend the band called INFERNAL
REVULSION from Osaka.Japan. They released 1st CD last day from
GOREGIASTIC RECORDS and it was killer!!! Of course their show is so fuck'n
Brutal always. You should check right now if you don't know about them.
11. besides disconformity do you guys have any other projects?
Kazz-drummer has another band called FAST KILL. They play old school
style Thrash Metal.
12. what are the bands plans for the future?
Our most biggest plan of this year is play at CALIFORNIA DEATH FEST
2007 in Cali this September. I really can't wait to play there and meet
again all my brothers who came to Japan and shared stage with
DISCONFORMITY at Tokyo Death Fest 2005 and 2006.
