1. hey grant!! how are things going? first of all give us a brief history of the band and describe your bands sound!!Seiji,what's up my brother!Things are going great.The band started around 97 as me and my older brother Brian's idea of making the most brutal band possible.Our sound is hard to descibe.I think we mix a lot of styles into our music and create our own form of brutal death/grinding metal.
2. the new album is finally out! what things will catch our attention? ultra guttural vox,cool break downs, blast beats or anything?
I think everything on this new cd is equally good.It is our favorite cd we have released and we are all very proud of it.The vocals are a lot more different then the past albums.I have always been the singer in Artery Eruption too.A lot of people think I only sang on this cd because of the higher pitched vocals I do,but I also do ultra low gutturals.You just can't tell the difference between the two I guess.The blast beats are a lot faster on this recording and the riffs are more technical and brutal and catchy all at the same time.It is also the first time we did a recording with clean bass and not use the fuzz box.
3. your brother brian's vocals are really sick. he is one sick vocalist!!! what vocalist's influence him? and you spew really sick vocals as well, does brian influence you alot about your vocals??
Brian is a very sick vocalist.His influences would have to be Sublime Cadaveric Decomposition,Retch,Devourment,and Disgorge.Brian actually does influence me a lot on my vocals and on the riffs I write as well.
4. artery's slam parts are cool as fuck!! what bands inspire you when you create slam parts??
We are inspired by so many bands.I love Devourment,Vomit Remnants,Internal Bleeding,Goretrade,and Internal Suffering and a lot of the slam riffs I create for Artery Eruption are influenced by them.
5. how has the new album's sound compared to old releases?
I think the sound on each album has been totally different.I think each time we do a recording we put to rest the past recordings and just get better with time.The sound is very brutal on this recording and pretty much has the same sound as the split cd with Mangled Atrocity.
6. i love the first album's guitar sounds. on the split cd you did with mangled atrocity the guitar sounds are more clean but you still kept that ultra low sound!! why did you decide to do that?
The sound from the first cd to the split changed because I was the guitarist on the first cd and not Brian.His guitar has a cleaner sound.We also wanted people to be able to understand the riffs more.
7. i know you are a huge fan of underground bands.so what have you been listening to recently?
I have been listening to the new Mortician,Disconformity,Inhuman Dissliency,Orchidectomy,Victimas,Guttural Secrete,Internal Suffering,Disgorge (ca),Internal Bleeding,Stabwound,pretty much I just listen to everything that is brutal all the time.hehe
8. darren (drummer) is a really talented person and a sick drummer. is artery eruption his first band or was he in any other bands? tell us a bit about him.
Darren is one of my friends from elementry school.He was in a thrash band that really sucked and I knew he could become a lot better.I asked him to join a side band that sounded a lot like the band Death we recorded one cd and then stopped to continue doing Artery Eruption.
9. california has a lot of sick bands playing ultra technical brutal guitars like disgorge, deeds of flesh, decrepit birth, severed savior and etc. and i guess you love those bands, but artery eruption has an ultra low slam styled brutal death sound. you change the prejudice that california=ultra technical brutal death. why did you choose this way?
We don't care too much about being technical although we love technical riffs.We just want to write the most brutal music that anyone has ever heard.
10. how's the scene of california in general? any new sick bands worth mentioning?
The scene in Cali. is pretty good.There's not any new bands comming up though.All the good death metal bands from Cali.everyone has already heard of.
11. why and how did you sign up with united guttural? and are you satisfied with this result?
We signed to United Guttural in hopes of just getting Artery Eruption's music to more people.We know that Crash is working with them and that means our cd's will finally be sold in stores.We are happy with them so far.
12. what are the plans for the band in future after releasing the new cd?
The future for Artery Eruption has a lot for our fans.Right after the release of Gouging Out Eyes Of Mutilated Infants,we will be releasing our very first DVD from a bunch of shows we have done.Also,we are already working on the split cd comming up very soon with InhumanDissiliency,Orchidectomy,and Cephalic Mortification.
13. you love JPDM? i hope you will play with some bands in japan.
Me and Brian both love Japanese brutal death metal.It is a dream for us to come out to Japan and do a tour for all the brutal fans out there.
14. last question what do guttural vox and breakdowns mean for you and the band?
Guttural vocals and breakdowns is pretty much all we care about haha.I think that's what makes a band good as far as being brutal.Artery Eruption is pretty much made up of those two things.
