Interview with Ed from Pathogenic Dysentery

1. hey bro, thanks for getting me a chance for the interview!!! give us a brief bio of Pathogenic dysentery! how would descrive your sound?
Me and Jimmy(drums) had the great idea of making a band in 99 so we picked up our instruments and started jamming. weve gone through so many band names and members its hard to count. In 2002 rob started doing vocals in our grindcore band Funeral Earth which then became Pathogenic Dysentery as we got a more death metal style. I would describe our sound as catchy brutal slaming death/grind.

2. what motivated you to start this band and whats the main reason for that?
Korn was a huge influence over why were first started playing music and it all just took off after that.Ê As we progressed we listened to heavier, faster and more brutal music. I'd say just a real love for music, especially Death Metal, has motivated us the most.

3. the name Pathogenic dysentery sounds sick as fuck! how did you come up with the name?
Jim and Rob came up with it, and i thought it was sick as fuck so we used it.

4. how long has the band been around? i remember you were getting a demo out when i was in israel( ive been in israel for three years-seiji).
Me(Ed), Jim, and Rob have been a in a band together for about 3 years now. that demo was a really rough Funeral Earth demo that we self produced, right now we have our 2004 Demo, which has some great production from Quantum Noise Labs.

5. listening to your songs, its obvious you are influenced by devourment. what bands influence you the most?
Devourment was a major influence for the music we have on the demo, as well as disgorge, saprogenic, and deeds of flesh. My style right now has expanded towards technical death metal bands such as mutilated, hate eternal, decapitated, and necrophagist to name a few.

6. you are from michigan,if im not wrong. saprogenic, gutrot, mutilated first come to my mind, if you ask me. but now Pathogenic dysentery haha!! you play with them and chill out those guys?
Michigan has one of the largest growing death metal scenes around right now. we're sort of getting back into the scene right now since we've been on a year long hiatus since we release our demo. ive hung out with brian from mutilated/gutrot/syphilic a couple times, he helped us find our new bassist and 2nd guitarist.

7. new demo is fuckin awesome.i guess your music has progressed to more straight brutal than everl! why it happened? and what things you have tried to get the band more sick?
we tried to make the demo as brutal as we possibly could. right now we're sort of branching off to get a more original sound.

8. how has the response to the demo?
its been great, although we havent had a whole lot of promotions our music has mostly got around from word of mouth.

9. you are into japanese bands like glossectomy, disconformity, vomit remnants right? those bands influence you and whats the reason you are addict into them?
you guys definatly have some top notch brutal bands over there, i think really the thing i like about JPDM is there ability to make some brutal slamming tunes while still keeping it nice and catchy, never a dull moment. glossectomy (RIP) was definatly an influence on my music.

10. whats your favourite albums you listen to most of your time recently? name five albums!!
decapitated - winds of creation
cephalic carnage - anomalies
hate eternal - conquering the throne
torsofuck - erotic diarrhea fantasy
devourment - 138

11. im searching for bands that not unsigned and dont have releases, but their sounds are sick as hell like devourment ,artery eruption,inhumandissiliency,orchidectomy... if you know such bands, tell me.and any new sick bands from michigan that you could recommend?
Some bands that have caught my attention recently are vomitous, proteus, and abominable putridity. As far as michigan bands go i haven't heard any new brutal bands lately besides syphilic.

12. what releases will you have for the band in the future? and what labels do you want to sign up with?
its sort of up in there air right now, since were getting back into the swing of things. i can imagine we would release a full length in about a year, or meaby a split sooner than that. Ive also thought of doing a split with our demo and meaby recording a new song to go along with it, so if any other brutal bands are interested, contact me. we've been contacted by a couple labels, but haven't found anything solid yet.

13. do you have any bands going on? if so,tell us about them all!!
Not at the moment, im thinking about doing a one man project, somewhere along the lines of progressive brutal deathmetal with electronic elements.

14. thanks bro!!! im diehard supporter of your band!! give your final word!
Thanks for the interview bro, and best of luck to you and your zine. hails to all you brutal fuckers out there, especially my MIDM bros. look for some new Brutal Technical Deathgrind from us soon, and pick up our 2004 demo while your waiting.
