1. hey shaun!!! whats up bro!!! so first wanted to ask you if the concept of
the band is all about Alien haha?? and tell us how Intestinal Alien Reflux
started and the current line up !!!
shaun-well bryan came up with the name a long time ago and he brought it up
one day and it sounded good. well bryan and i have been jammin in a couple
bands and nothing was working out and we couldnt find a drummer so we said
fuck it got a drum machine and just started doing it all on our own. shanes my brother and we have always played together so it was only natural that he joined us
2. the band sounds so sick and sometimes remind me of devourment .i mean you
guys some heavy slow parts like devo and other slam oriented bands!! but
you guys add your diversity to it, so describe the bands sound and what bands
influence you to create band's music?
shaun-well we listen to a lot of shit and we try to sound somewhat unique
by mixing in all the styles we love. as far as
influences, dripping, sikfuk, insdious decrepency, vomit remnants, severe torture, theres really to many to name.
3. Bryan's vocals are really sick gutturals remind me of devourment!! so who
influences his current vocal style? and i guess he uses more other vocal
styles like gurgless and etc. so tell us about all vocals styles he uses. and
tell us about your back up vocals also!!
shaun-bryan is one sick fucker. he has probably the best vocals ive ever
heard. origanally he was the bass player and hes a sweet bassist but his
vocals were so sick he had to jump over. shane does the higher crazy sounding
ones hes real influenced by gutteral secrete and our buddy jungle does some guest vocals on a couple tracks.
4. shaun, you creates some chunky riffs that are really heavy and slow as
fuck !!! how long have you been playing guitar?? tell us who influence your
current playing style and describe your playing style too!! and how about
shane?
shaun-so shane has been playin guitar for about 8 years at least and just
switched to bass cause we needed it. ive been playing about 7 years and
those slow riffs are definatly very dripping oriented. we just blend everything
5. the band has tons of slams and breakdowns. so what bands do you guys
draw inspirations from when you create those parts? and what do they mean for
you?
shaun-its all about the fucking slam. those parts you just wanna kill
everymotherfucker in sight. we love moshpits to and they just get it going. again
any fucking slam band we listen to.
6. what kind of gears do you guys use?
shaun-i have a custom jackson ive had for about 5 years and i just got a
new line 6 head it gets awesome distortion. shanes playin a ibanez and
played through a carvin stack and as far as drum machine the fuckin dr-880. its
amazing i only had it 2 monthes before we put the demo out.
7. as for drum machine,how did you learn to do it? and what bands you
learn alot? and tell whats the strong point of drum machine as opposed to human
drummer?
shaun-well i do all the programing and you just gotta fuckin trial and
error with it. as for bands goreopsy, retch, viral loard, shawn whiteker is the
man. i would love to have a drummer but the scene in michigan is shitty. but
now its a part of us no drummer bitchin or people to deal with.
8. what releases will you have? and any merch maybe?
shaun-well the demo will be out in a couple weeks and we plan to release
the full length in about 6 months. we still gotta get shirts and shit but
all in good time
9. hows michigan's scene? any new good bands you wanna share with us?
shaun-michigan fucking sucks. baerforce rocks and maybe some good punk
bands but there isnt shit. when summon was around it was always cool to go see
them but they broke up. i hear shaun peters(summon)will have some new shit
out soon so that should be cool.
10. what bands have you been into recently?
shaun-scrambled defuncts, into eternity, guteral secrete, abysmal
torment, gorgasm, disgorge, again too many to name
11. you guys have other bands besides Intestinal Alien Reflux?
shaun-bryan plays bass in baerforce but no one else you can check them
out on my space.
12. tell us band's future plan and add any last words here.
shaun-to keep fuckin death metal alive. we plan on doing as much as we can
to try to get our shit out and be heard. we have the demo out and it is only
the top of the surface we will do 10x better on the full length so i hope
