Interview with Cam of Disfiguring the Goddess

1. hey bro.im so lucky that found your band early.i guess you guys are so young and the band is pretty new.so first of all tell us the bands history.and how did you come up the bands name?
Haha! Yeah bro, I'm so glad you found us! :) Well first off. The line-up, sound, and overall message was totally different when this band started out. Saph (Drums) and I (Guitar/Vocals) were not diggin' anything about the band, so the other members split and we continued with the name. The name was thought of by one of our older singers, Garrett. Then Nate Hopped on board. Then we basically started out fresh a couple of months ago.

2. the band is so heavy beatdown and slam style for me.describe the bands sound and any particular bands influence you guys a lot to come up with the current style?
Basically anything really heavy... In particular for the slamming stuff, I'd have to say Devourment would have to be the main influence for slam/beatdown stuff.

3. i noticed you guys namedropped some great DM bands on myspace profile as your main influences just like devourment, guttural secrete, orvhidectomy and etc.so you are big fan of this kinda music? and how do you evolve those bands sound to your own sound?
Yeee! I love all those guys. I try and be original but look towards my influences to help develop our style.

4. vocals are so sick.what kind of vocals do you use? and who influences your vocals style?
HAHA! thanks soo much bro. I love you. Well I use exhales for the deep stuff you hear and gutturals, and inhales for my highs. Nate... I don't really care what he does, i think he sounds pretty gnarly. As for influences... Devourment, Condemned, Torsofuk... anything brutal.

5. you guys create cool slams and breakdowns.i know too many bands try to do them and most of them sound the same.so how do you guys draw lines between those bands?
Well, I'm not a huge fan of chug a chug chug breakdowns so i see slams as a way of breaking it down with out that chug a chug chug stuff. Since almost all slam guitar sound the same i try and listen for creative drums and vocals during those parts.

6. who mainly creates slams and breakdowns? and what bands give you huge inspirations to create cool ones?
Devourment, Condemned, Inhuman Dissiliency, and Cephalotripsy... Dope stuff

7. as for fast parts like grinding parts, what do you care for when you create them?
I try and make it fast and heavy at the same time, but still have something catchy thrown in there. Guttural Secrete is a huge influence in that area.

8. what kind of gears do you guys use?
Hahahaha! really really shitty gear... My favorite part about my set-up is my Invader pickups, it gives any guitar a nice heavy low-end sound. It's working though for now... Were all Sophomores so it's really hard to get a job, so it's really hard to get money to buy dope gear... but it's a work in progress. I've started tracking and producing local bands to get money and stuff... You can check that out if you want. (http://www.myspace.com/bigchocolateproductions)

9. are you from las vegas right? hows scene there? iguess the scene is so growing and there are tons of cool DM and hear core bands.any new sick bands there? and you guys are good friends with implements of hell?? the band is pretty sick guttural slamming band for sure.
Accually not, we are from Nevada, but Northern Nevada... Not in Southern Nevada where all that goes on. Kind of a bummer because there isn't a brutal death metal scene out here at all. I'd kill to be in a DM scene... those bands don't know how lucky they are.

10. what kind of releases will you have? and you guys have side bands besides disfiguring the goddess?
Well as of now, i've been writing for an upcoming EP that will be available to purchase viva paypal on our myspace. I'll keep you posted on the progress of that. There isn't a whole lot to do out here, but music and school, so I've got three other projects that I'm involved in. Including 2 solo projects.

11. what bands have you been into recently?
Condemned, Enya, Wu-Tang, and Sluts(Must hear). Hahaha!

12. thanks for the intie bro.any last words you would like to add?
Yeah, no problem. thank you bro!... uhhh.... I'd just like to say that anyone who has ever digged our stuff that I LOVE YOU! and thanks again Seiji, this means a lot to me.

Peace
-Cam
